On 1 December 2016 JŠK held an afternoon seminar on GDPR in cooperation with Eva Škorničková, legal consultant for IT security and data protection, and Pavel Hruška, a consultant in the field of cybersecurity. The seminar was a tremendous success, with over 100 clients in attendance.
In the beginning of the seminar we focused on corporate criminal liability for an unauthorized usage of personal data and drawing practical implications, including comparison with civil and administrative liability.
It was followed by an introduction to GDPR, changes in the definition of personal data and principles of personal data processing. We discussed significant strengthening of the rights of the data subject, the status of controllers and processors, legality of data processing, consent with the data processing and data protection officer. Attention was drawn to the astronomical increase in threatening sanctions.
Finally, we also discussed the personal data protection from an IT perspective, especially technical issues related to pseudonimisation, encryption, hashing and tokenization with the implication of practical advice and recommendations on the way to data security.
This introductory seminar will be followed by a series of practical workshops of clients ‘choice e.g. data protection officer, internal compliance, consent and marketing communications etc. The regular workshops will start in January 2017.
