JŠK was the main partner of the Czech Private Equity and Venture Capital Association's traditional Christmas party held in the Altány Kampa Restaurant on 18 December. Every year, notable figures from private equity and other sectors meet at this event. During the festive evening guests were acquainted with the digital memorial archive Memory of the Nation, a joint project by the Post Bellum Association, Czech Radio and the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes, and recalled this year's solo flight around the world by JŠK partner Roman Kramarík under the call sign the Winged Lion on behalf of Memory of the Nation. The aim of the Memory of the Nation project is to provide researchers and the general public with individual testimonies of witnesses of important historical events of the 20th century in a clear and comprehensible manner.
Thanksgiving Ball by AmCham 2018
The American Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic held its traditional Thanksgiving Ball for its members and their business partners on 24 November at the Žofín Palace. With its participation as well as vouchers to a sightseeing and aerobatic flight piloted by our partner Roman Kramařík given in a "silent auction", our law firm supported the One World Many Voices project, a grant programme of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic that supports the active involvement of pupils and students in society. The evening's musical programme was provided by the winner of the Superstar 2018 song contest, Tereza Mašková.
We are Grandchildren of Ježíšek!
As part of the "Ježíškova vnoučata" (Grandchildren of Ježíšek) project, journalist Ludmila Hamplová decided to make the wish of 91-year-old Oldřich Syrový from Lysá nad Labem come true. As a young man, he flew sport aircraft and deeply wished to do it again. Roman Kramařík, a partner at our law firm, was more than happy to oblige by taking on the role of pilot and guide on the historically significant day of Saturday, 17 November for a sightseeing flight under clear blue skies.
The rest of us at JŠK want to support "Ježíškova vnoučata" too, so we organised a collection among the staff (which JŠK's partners pledged to double), and will use the funds towards the purchase of a garden swing, which we have dedicated to the clients of the Senior Care Centre in Prague 7. We can't wait to present the gift, and you can look forward to the photos from the ceremony.
Ježíškova vnoučata is a project by Czech Radio. It brings together people from care homes and other governmental and non-governmental facilities for seniors with donors who wish to help by providing a material gift at their own expense.
