For the third year in a row, we were proud to partner with the Legal 500 GC Summit Czech Republic, which took place last week in Prague.
Following our previous panel discussions focused on Due Diligence and Directors’ & Officers’ Liability Insurance (D&O), this year’s theme focused on W&I insurance and its practical use for in-house lawyers.
The panel was moderated by our partner Tomáš Doležil, who invited three speakers offering three distinct perspectives:
🎤 Daniel Pospíšil, Partner at JŠK, who regularly encounters W&I insurance during SPA negotiations,
🎤 Jan Bakule, W&I insurance broker at RENOMIA, with deep insight into the market, its specifics, and emerging trends, and
🎤 Stefka Nacheva from WECOYA UNDERWRITING GmbH, who brings the insurer’s perspective—deciding what is insurable and under what conditions.
Participants explored key practical questions, including:
✔️ Does W&I insurance genuinely facilitate transactions, or is it merely a helpful add-on?
✔️ Which risks are acceptable for insurers, and which immediately raise red flags?
✔️ How critical is due diligence from an underwriting perspective?
✔️ Disclosures, exclusions, and final coverage: where do misunderstandings most often arise between the parties?
✔️ Which key parameters of W&I insurance deserve the closest attention?
✔️ And finally—do W&I insurance claims actually work in practice?
Thank you to all speakers and participants for an insightful and engaging discussion.
